Days out around Paignton and surrounding areas

Hi all. Me and my family are travelling to Devon, Paignton on Saturday for a week.

Can anyone recommend any good family days out in the area or any particular nice beaches or coves.

We are trying to keep the costs down which is difficult with 3 children (14,13 and 11)

Don't mind a short car journey.

Thanks in advance

Craig

And Babbacombe. cliff top gardens. Award winning fish n chip shop (Hanbury's), cliffside railway, model village, just a good place to chill.

Make sure you get a national trust membership . We are currently in south hams and would certainly recommend woodlands, powderham castle, salcombe and the beaches nearby such as bigbury on sea, bantham or south Milton sands are highly recommended.

The Devon Round Robin is an ideal day out

Just looked at that.. Quite pricey if I'm honest. Well for me anyway. Thanks though.

I second Cockington and Babbacombe. The model village is great, as is the cliff railway and Oddicombe Beach. Hanbury's has great fish and chips and is very family friendly.

If you want to go to Dartmouth, take the bus via Totnes, which is also worth a stroll around. The cross the river and return via Kingswear. It's a much cheaper version of the Round RObin as all the buses can be covered with a Stagecoach day ticket. I'm sure that there will be a family ticket available, but I find the Stagecoach website very user unfriendly so I haven't checked.

Re: bus tickets: the Torbay Dayrider is £5 per adult, and each adult can take up to three accompanied children (age 5-15) for an additional £1 per child. You can use any Stagecoach bus in Torbay, and throughout an area which extends to Dartmouth, Totnes, Newton Abbot and Dawlish Warren (including buses X64 and 2 in this area).

If you want to go further afield by bus Stagecoach have a Day Explorer which is £16.00 for up to five people (any age) and this is valid on any Stagecoach bus in Devon*.

There is also a multi-operator "Devon Day" ticket which can be used on practically every local bus service in Devon*, this costs £18 for a family ticket (2 adults and up to 3 children).

* Plus a few places just beyond, including Lyme Regis, Bude and Saltash.
