What about Fjords on a self-drive trip?

Greetings,

I'm driving from Oslo to Bergen and have mapped out a few waterfalls to visit along the way like Voringflossen, Lattefoss, Steindalsflossen. My route is basically Oslo, Geilo, Utne, Bergen and will be going through Hardangervidda and Hardanger. Are there any good locations to view Fjords on this type of route? I'm trying to stay close to my route because I'm driving about four hours each day. That's my limit considering I want to be stopping to enjoy the views, take photos, etc. My trip is later this month (May).

Thank you

The short answer: Anywhere in Hardanger. You will see the Hardangerfjord all the time form road 7, from the ferry to Utne, etc.

I’m not taking the ferry to Utne. I’m driving south to Latrefoss. So is that the Hardanger Fjord that will be on my right driving down highway 7 or 13?

Låtefoss, you will drive along Sørfjorden, a branch of the main Hardangerfjord. Hardanger is an area/region (-anger is norse for fjord), main roads run along the water (fjord).

If not doing the ferry, perhaps you are doing the bridge ? Hard to comment without knowing your plans.

Please look at the map. The road runs along fjords all the time. Fjords dominate the landscape and are everywhere.

Sørfjorden in Hardanger for instance

So noted. I think the problem was I didn't know exactly what a Fjord was until someone on this post explained it to me. It looks so beautiful from the photos. I will be taking the Ferry from Jondal to Torvikbygd, too.

Part of road from Utne to Jondal is an old heritage road, narrow, winding and very scenic.

Jondal ferry runs across Hardangerfjord, the fjord is as deep as the mountains are high
