Trying to plan a first time trip to Scandinavia in Late May for 2 weeks, appreciate any recommendations or suggestions as far as a plan that allows us to see as much as Norway and the fjords as possible as well be able to spend a few nights in Copenhagen and Stockholm.

Our flight is in and out if Copenhagen.

1-Is it better to go to Stockholm from Copenhagen then to Norway and back to Copenhagen, by plane , train or...

Any type of tip for route, hotel, Resturant recommendation is very much appreciated.

Copenhagen to Stockholm by direct train. Takes 5h19m. Book at www.sj.se as early as possible. Stockholm to Oslo by train again. Takes 5h17m. Book again as early as possible on www.sj.se. In Norway do the NIN circuit to Bergen. Either stay for a few hikes in the Bergen area or get yourself to Stavanger for a few hikes and then get back to Oslo. Take the ferry in Oslo to Copenhagen. Book at www.dfds.com.

Hotels and restaurants you can worry about when you have the structure of your travel laid out. Then you can start with the hotels according to budget and location preference. From there you research the restaurant bit - in big cities you might want to find something close to your accomodation.

Thank you, that’s helpful, how would you divide up the days in each area? Would two days in Copenhagen, 2 days in Stockholm and the rest in Norway be a good plan to get a feel of Copenhagen and Stockholm , or should we spend more time in those cities?

Copenhagen to Oslo by overnight ferry, Norway in a Nutshell to Bergen, flight to Stockholm, train to Copenhagen. You should have got an open jaw ticket to avoid backtracking to Copenhagen.

13 days = 12 nights? Little time for 4 destinations - leaves you 3 nights in each city - only 2 whole days, rest is travel.

Thank you, The only direct flights from LA were to Copenhagen, would have preferred an open jaw,

You said Copenhagen to Oslo by overnight ferry, any thing special about overnight ferry to Oslo? What about flying to Oslo or Stockholm to save time? Arriving on 23rd around 7 pm and leaving on the 6th around noon , more like 14 nights or 13 days! Might be better if I fly to the major cities if the train or ferry travel is not a must see/ experience to save time

Overnight ferry Copenhagen-Oslo is overnight, you travel while you sleep, so efficient way of travel when your time is so consticted. 2 full days/3nights in a big city will let you cover some of the hightlights.

Ferry is effective - it is overnight so you save on an hotel. The sail up the Oslo fjord in the morning is scenic. Get to the breakfast buffet when it opens at 07:00 and grab a table by the front windows.

You are not travelling back direct anyway, a connecting flight from Stockholm through Copenhagen would have helped.

Trains will take you city center to city center and you travel in relaxed comfort. With flights you will have to factor in transfers, security checks, waiting time, luggage drop-off, standing in lines; plenty of hassle, hardly any time saving and utterly booooring.
