Stromstad to Oslo

My husband and i wish to explore the Bohuslän Coast in July for 3 nights from Gothenburg and thereafter travel to Oslo.

We were planning of keeping our base in Strömstad for 3 nights and taking side trips to Koster Island, Fjällbacka & Grebbestad.

Please help me out with the following queries :

1)Can we explore the places above without a car ?? We would prefer taking the public transportation if possible.

2)How do we travel from Strömstad to Oslo ?

3) Can we take day trips from Stromstad to Koster Island, Fjällbacka & Grebbestad ?

4) Any tours which can take us to the places above from Gothenburg ?

Please correct me if i am too ambitious with my itinerary.

Thank you.

Jamila.

Yes.

Take the bus from Strömstad to Halden, then the train from Halden to Oslo.

>3) Can we take day trips from Stromstad to Koster Island, Fjällbacka & Grebbestad ?

Strömstad to the Koster Islands (note plural) is about a 50 min ferry trip. Grebbestad about the same time, but with train and bus. Fjällbacka is possible for a day trip, but you will spend a lot of time travelling.

>4) Any tours which can take us to the places above from Gothenburg?

Not that I know of, but they are easy to explore on your own with public transport.

Hi ,

I don't see a direct train from Halden to Oslo... google maps show a direct route without a change but on the nsb website all trains have 1 change. Also what does Halden tog mean ?? Is it a train station or a bus terminal ?

When are you travelling? Could be some sort of temporary service due to trackworks.

Halden tog should be the railway station.

Yes, then you have to take a bus the last bit to Oslo.

Alternative routes can be the ferry from Strömstad to Sandefjord and a ferry from there. But that is the only other route I can think of that makes any sense and isn't a huge detour.

Nettbuss will during the summer extend their bus route between Oslo and Sarpsborg to go to Stromstad.

Only 1 departure on Saturday 7th July (15:15), but it will give you a direct trip. Bookable now on www.nettbuss.no (price right now is 239 NOK - full fare is 300 NOK) - choose the "Strømstad (Strömstad SJ)" alternative (that's the train station in Stromstad.

There is a planned work on that line that time, so there is a change to the replacement bus.

No big deal, just follow the crowd!
