Kronborg, Roskilde or Frederiksborg?

Danes! We are headed there next week and one day want to visit one of these sites outside the city. Which would you recommend? I'm leaning towards Roskilde for the cute town and Viking Museum and cathedral but open to suggestions. We are travelling with our 9 year old son.

Also, do you think it'll take all day after breakfast to visit one of these sites and to return back to COP?

Thanks in advance!

What did you end up choosing? We have this same question...

I would rank them about equally interesting.

Roskilde is probably the most varied of the sites, as it has both the town, viking ship museum and cathedral.

Hillerød (where Frederiksborg Castle is located) is also a nice, cozy town and so is Helsingør (Kronborg Castle). They both have coffee shops and cafés.

Frederiksborg Castle is more impressive, but less authentic than Kronborg. Large parts were rebuilt in the 1800's after a serious fire.

Can't you do two in a day? A lot of people do Frederiksborg and Kronborg on the same day.

Helsingør has a more picturesque old town than Hillerød. It is normally possible to combine Frederiksborg and Helsingør, maybe even Louisiana in the late evening.
