Travelling to Copenhagen in late June!

Hi everyone. So much great info here. My wife, 9 year old son and I arrive 6/28 at 1pm into Cophenhagen. We figured we'd take it easy that day and then would love some feedback on an itinerary and places to stay based on what we're doing. I love Viking history so Roskilde appealed to me. We love soccer so I threw in the stadium tour. I'm very open to suggestions

6/29:

*Breakfast

*Rosenborg Castle – 11:30am – follow guards to Amalienborg

*Amalienborg Palace – shortly before Noon to witness changing of the guards

*Walk 20 minutes to Torvehallerne for lunch

*Walk back towards Amalienborg for 10 minutes to Nyhavn, where we will pick up a 1-hour boat tour

*Go have a beer at Mikkeller Bar – restaurant Mother is nearby for dinner

6/30:

*Breakfast

*Kronberg or Frederiksborg Castle *Or Roskilde?

*Tivoli in the late afternoon / evening - eat there

7/1:

*Walking in the city

*Experimentarium or Tour of FC Kophenhavn

*Evening Ferry to Oslo

Thanks again in advance!

Just a small thing, but you don't have to walk via Amalienborg again to Nyhavn from Torvehallerne, take the walking streets in stead, for example Købmagergade and Strøget, or Fiolstræde, Gråbrødretorv and Strøget.

Hi

Generally I think it looks really good and doable. Just a few suggestions

On the 29th you’re planning on walking to Torvehallerne for lunch. It will probably take you 25 min each way. Perhaps instead you’d want to do lunch at Toldboden, The royal playhouse or the new food market they’re opening in May on the other side of the water at refshale island (you can walk on the pedestrian bridge at Nyhavn).

Only suggesting to stay for lunch in that area as on that entire stretch by amalienborg and Nyhavn you can also see/explore: the little mermaid, gefion fountain, kastellet (the citadel), the marble church for instance.

Then on the 1st you could do Torvehallerne for lunch or just a coffee/cake stop. There are bakeries etc in there.

On the 30th: it’s difficult to say which of the 3 day tours you should go for. It really comes down to what you find most interesting.

They are all easy accessible by train. Roskilde is only a 30 min train ride from the main central station. In addition to the Viking museum it’s a cute little town with a famous cathedral as well.

For kronborg or Frederiksborg you would go to see the castles and gardens.

In Tivoli they also opened a foodhall now which you could also check out for snacks/dinner.

For the 1st of July I’d go check out Torvehallerne. You can also go for breakfast here for instance if it fits into your schedule.

7/1: if you’re into football then go for the FC copenhagen. Experimentarium you could spend a few hours, so maybe you don’t want to rush it. It’s only a 10 min taxi ride away from the DFDS Oslo boat though should you decide to include it.

Note that a big closure of the train line to Helsingør begins on June 30th so if you are planning to go there you will have to take a replacement bus, and the journey will be a bit longer than usual. If you go on the 29th, trains will be operating normally.

Ok, thank you. That would affect only a visit to Kronborg then, correct? Not Roskilde or Frederiksborg?
