Visiting from Kalymnos

HI, I'm wanting to visit Patmos from Kalymnos with my husband in June this year when we visit Greece.

It looks like the ferry we will take to Patmos will get there at 9:45am and our return will be at 1300.

Is this going to be enough time to get a bus to the cave, the monatstry and stop at the skala for a bite to eat? Is a 3 hour time frame enough time or will i be pushing it!!!!!

Theres the option of the 1920 ferry back but this will be the extended ferry (3hours 40 mins). We will be taking the long ferry in the morning to get there meaning a 5am start that day!!

Any advice much appreciated!!!

We went from Kos to Patmos and I am sure we had longer than 3 hours. We shared a taxi to get to the monestry quicker and this worked out well. As we were leaving all these Americans arrived with their tour guide. Walked down to the cave of St.John which I loved and only 1 man in there. From there we walked down to the seafront for a drink etc. at the local gun club on the seafront. Very interesting inside. Had a walk round and had an icecream before going back to Kos. Maybe look at the boats from Kos as they may go a different time. Do enjoy and go to Nissyros while you are there if you haven't already been. Enjoy

It is much easier for you to stay 2 nights or something. No problem with a Room for Rent in June on arrival on Patmos.

Depends on your overall plan but you don't have to return to Kalymnos, you could go to Piraeus or Samos or something.

The Nissos Kalimnos on which I have travelled before does tend to run late. A daytrip involves over 6+ hours on the ferries, maybe 9 hours if it is the Nissos Kalimnos both ways.

I have stayed on Patmos a number of times before and it is worth more than a short daytrip, so is nearby Lipsi...

Ferries operating in the area are the Nissos Kalimnos, Dodekanisos Seaways catamarans, Anna Express and the odd once per week Bluestar.
