Does anyone know how far it is from the bus station to the Sol e Mar Hotel? Is it walkable or should we take a taxi? Any idea how much a taxi costs?
the bus station is quite a way out of the centre, so definately a taxi to the sol e mar. sorry i dont know how much that would cost, but i am sure there will be someone on here that does!
It's over a mile. There are buses from the bus station into town but the nearest stop is about 200 yards away from Sol e Mar.
Buses leave every 30 minutes at 0 and 30 minutes past the hour (in theory), it takes about 10 minutes and costs €1,40 cash fare. It's Linha Vermelha 2 and get off at the stop after the very narrow street the bus passes through after passing the Rocamar hotel. The stop is at Rua 1 Dezembro by the statue of Beato (Saint) Vicente. Sol e Mar is down the street to the right past a couple of bars and straight ahead.
A taxi will cost no more than 5 Euros and these are normally waiting outside the bus station.Edited: 26 June 2012, 05:26
5 Euros for a taxi? That's pretty cheap. Do taxi drivers charge extra for luggage? We will have 2 pieces.
Yes there is a charge of €1,60 for bags. A taxi in Albufeira is €3,25 for the first kilometre, €5 will get you just about anywhere in town. Charges are 20% extra at night, weekends and holidays and there is a surcharge of 80 cents if you phone for a taxi.
