Train from Lagos to Lisbon

2 part question:

I am reserving on https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en/buy-tickets and requesting Lagos to Lisboa - Sete Rios. Is there any difference between 1st and 2nd class seating?

Is the train advisable over the bus?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, first class rail carriages have fewer seats and are more spacious than coach. Buses are comfortable enough, but certainly more cramped than trains.

But the bus is direct to Lisbon and the train is not. And the regional train from Lagos till tunes has no 1st class and no reserved seats.

Train is often cheaper than bus if booked more than a week in advance. However the regional train from Tunes to Lagos can be very busy as was the case when I took a train on Tuesday. Most of the passengers were tourists, many were picked up at Tunes off the Lisbon train.

Also, most but not all buses are direct. Check carefully.
