Moules frites, best restaurant?

Hello,

I'm looking for a medium priced restaurant for moules frites in Bruges but is also child friendly as we have our two young daughters with us!

Thanks

Claire

Just call it mussels and fries (or mosselen en frieten in Dutch). No need to use the French terminology, since Brugge is in a Dutch speaking area.

Hi ya

You could try Poule Moules. Centrally located and relaxed so fine with the children.

Moules frites is universally accepted I believe !

The above is a good recommend and us near to Markt .

DO NOT be tempted by the inticing tourist menus on Markt or Burg. You will be stung for drinks and extras.

There are good places for on Walplien / beguinery if you're in that area too. Children will be welcomed everywhere

"Moules frites is universally accepted I believe !"

Nope. You should not assume that the leeway you receive as a foreign visitor (which would also apply to "Walplien / beguinery" - and for that matter "Bruges") is "universal": and I don't really understand why you would object to a local telling you what something is really called locally! I would have thought it was helpful to know what to look for if by any chance the OP comes up against a Dutch-only menu (unlikely in Brugge, I know).

Thanks for your opinion - just how local is Barcelona to Brugge then ?

Much as I'm no Francophile :

Moules frites - pan au chocolate - creme brûlée - and many many others are understood in any language and are correct terms anywhere too.

Ate there once - very nice and a fab setting next to the horse and carriage half way point.

The mussels are served in moules pots ...

" just how local is Barcelona to Brugge then"

You seem to have confused place of residence with nationality/local knowledge? kbbcn is Belgian-Flemish!

And I have to insist, most French terms are NOT acceptable in the Dutch-speaking area of Belgium, any more than English is in the French-speaking part of Canada (hence "chiens chauds" for the otherwise international "hot dog").

I suggest you consider for just one little moment that other people might know a great deal more about local sensibilities than you do..!

Insist away.

Moules frites is still a universal term despite your insistence otherwise.
