Dear fellow DE's and regular forum readers,

Although the weather has been rather unpleasant lately summer is here again, and with it some of our annual (music) events. A quick update of what people can expect in Bruges in July and August:

• Cactusfestival: 6 - 7 - 8 July

Location: Minnewaterpark

Tickets: several ticket prices > check website


A small but renowned festival presenting new talent and well-known international artists. Rock, reggae, world music and dance from , it’s all there in Minnewaterpark.

• Burg Rock: 11 July

Location: Burg square

Tickets: free


As of 15h00 Burg square welcomes everyone to enjoy this annual free music festival. Starting with a Rock Rally, a battle between 5 bands, followed in the evening by the main acts.

• Cirque Plus: 13 – 14 – 15 July

Location: Het Entrepot

How to get there: bus 14, 41 or 42 at train station or ’t Zand square, bus stop: Lodewijk Coiseaukaai, and then about 5 min. walking

Tickets: free

National and international artists enjoy bringing smiles to your face during this free circus festival. Heart-warming performances, astonishing acrobatics and funny acts and tricks pretty much sum up in short what Cirque Plus is all about.

• Brugse Tripeldagen: 19 – 20 – 21 July

Location: Market square

Tickets: 1 euro on 19 and 20 July, free on 21 July

Kick-off on Thursday with a popular schlager songs, followed by a mix of Flemish artists on Friday and local acts + a karaoke evening on Saturday (lyrics provided).

• Klinkers: 27 July to 11 August

A beloved and treasured intimate event which returns each year to charm locals and visitors alike. The diverse program can be viewed on the website.

• MAfestival: 3 to 12 August

This festival of ancient music has a reputation to uphold, so no wonder that internationally renowned artists can be found in Bruges in August. MAfestival is known for its class and concerts on unique locations.

• Pageant of the Golden Tree: 19 and 26 August @ 15h30

Location: city center (check route on the website)

Tickets: 5 (bench) or 15 euro (grandstand) > check website


The Pageant of the Golden Tree (Gouden Boomstoet) is held every 5 years and was first organised in 1958. Like the famous Holy Blood Procession the Golden Tree procession is a colourful and historic parade through the streets of Bruges.

• Zandfeesten: 5 August and 23 September

Location: Koning Albertpark and ’t Zand

Tickets: free

People who enjoy strolling on flea markets must visit Flanders’ largest flea market. Three Sundays (there was one in June as well) a year, from 6h00 till 18h00, bargain hunters flock to the Zandfeesten to find that one special item they have been looking for for years.

• Pasos de Brujas: tango every Sunday in July and August | salsa as of 14 July every Saturday in July and August – both 18h00 and 22h00 (23h00 on 26 August)

Location: Vismarkt / Fish Market

Pasos de Brujas cordially invites you to come and watch (or even join) Milonga del Pescador. It’s the fourth year that the Fish Market transforms into a dancefloor where passion flares while people dance the tango / salsa.
