An afternoon in Bruges

We are doing a day trip from Amsterdam to Bruges in April, and will only have an afternoon there. We will take a 1 hour walking tour and also a canal boat ride. I also would like to see the church with the Madonna and Child, which we should be able to fit in. Given our limited time I'm thinking we should just plan on wandering around, having lunch, and soaking up the atmosphere with any remaining time. But I'm wondering if there are any "must do's" that we can fit in to a few hours? I wish we had more time, but we don't. Thanks.
