depends on how the travel agent is arranging transport..if it is by private car, then yes, €12 is a good deal. but to answer your question, yes, you dont need for transfer to be arranged you can easily do it yourself by train, bus, or taxi

go to arrival lounge in the airport and buy a ticket for the train, then take the escalators down to the lower floor where you will find the train station. Take about 25 mins to get to amsterdam central. its so eay to get from airport to centraal station......you dont even have to leave the airport to catch the train!

you can walk it to your hotel if its close or take a tram/taxi................where abouts are you staying?

The train is so easy and the best way to get to the centre.Tickets must be purchased before boarding the train, there are ticket machines and ticket offices near the station platforms at Schiphol Plaza. look for Starbucks and the ticket office is close by

We recently used Schiphol Travel Taxi for private airport transfer to hotel and found them to be convenient, competitively priced and professional. You simply go from the airport desk to their clearly marked arrival area in the terminal, where a vehicle and driver are assigned within a few minutes. I believe they also operate the Connexxion shuttle service. We opted for private transfer as we were travelling as a party of 4 with luggage. The warnings given by the hotel where we booked were that if we were taking a taxi at the airport we should agree on a price before and fare should be between $40 and $50 Euro maximum, and that if arriving by train many taxis might refuse a City Center fare due to short distance. If your hotel is near a tram route, train to tram is also a viable option, as you can pay when boarding the tram.

It all depends on exactly where you are going and how much of a hurry you are in, and how much luggage you have.

When travelling with just hand baggage, the train and tram to central locations is great. If i have heavy baggage then I take a taxi
