Amsterdam/Brussels

3 couples going in Sept. 3 days at each - is it easier to fly into Amsterdam and out of Brussels or vice versa. Is it possible to Stay in Brusssels and travel to Amsterdam for the 6 days? What would do if traveling with friends who might have different interests?

Many people fly open-jaw, it depends on how it prices out for you. I’m not sure what your second question means, but it’s very easy to travel by train between Brussels and Amsterdam.

My advice to your last question is, if you have different interests, then plan on doing some things together, and some separate. You need not be joined at the hip for every minute of your trip, but make sure that everyone understands that. I have travelled with a group of friends where sometimes we are together and sometimes not. This way they can shop, or go running, or whatever, and I can indulge my passion for obscure historical sights.

Some compromising will be necessary, but everyone should get something out of the trip.

It is, but quite time consuming.

There are two options by direct train:

Normal speed Intercity takes nearly 3 hours

High speed Thalys takes 1h50

Brussels (IMHO) is not a very pleasant city. If you want to split your trip into two centres, I'd think about going to Antwerp instead of Brussels.

Thank you for your reply - I guess my second question is would you stay in Amsterdam and travel to Brussels or is it better to stay in Brussels and travel to Amsterdam?
