Public Transport including Schipol Airport

Dear members,

First let me apologies if I'm repeating a common question.

My flight arrives in AMS at 1200 hrs and I'm staying in a hotel in Amsterdam city center. I will leave to Zurich after 3 days from the same airport.

I want to buy a public transport 3-day pass which includes the Schipol Airport. Kindly clearly following confusions for me ...

1). I prefer travelling in metro/train than traveling by bus. If I purchase a 3-day pass from the airport, does it cover the train to/from Schipol Airport to Amsterdam centraal station ?

2). The day pass valid on 'day' basis or '24 hour basis' ? ( pass will expire midnight of the day or it can be used 24 hours from the first use)

3). My hotel is 'Hampton by Hilton' in Amsterdam East Area. Do I need a 3-day pass for general travelling in the center (including my hotel area) or will it be a waste of money ? ( I have heard Amsterdam is a walking city)

Thanks a lot :)

Hi there,

1] Amsterdam Travel Ticket is for train and local tram/metro. But sadly for calendar days and 3 maximum hence does not seem to work for you. Hence better 2 single train rides and then GVB 72-hour card.

3] Definitely pass needed as tram 26 to the city centre is 5 mins as opposed to half an hour walking.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. are you referring to this product ?

https://en.gvb.nl/gvb-dag-meerdagenkaart

But this says it is valid for 72 *hours* which might mean that is is based on hours rather than days ?

It also says its valid for the schipol area and available in AKO at airport. so I can purchase this at the airport and travel to the city center by train and use it while in the city and finally use it to come back to airport right ?

Thanks

the clock starts ticking on your 72 hours the first time you beep in on a GVB tram/metro/bus. it does not cover the airport to city center run thus Erik's suggestion you buy single ride train tickets to centraal station. then use your GVB pass for tram 26.

It only covers the one bus to the airport, the 69 and that only goes to Sloterdijk. So yes you can use it then catch the 22 bus which would take the best part of 2 hours in total all to save yourself a whole 5 euros and you don't like buses.

So take the advice of Erik and train to Amsterdam CS then tram 26
