First timer 2 days in Zurich in October. Appreciate advice

Hi, I will be flying into Zurich in October for 4 nights and need some help with itinerary as it’s our first time to Switzerland.

Am planning to rent a car

Day 1

> arrive at 9am to Zurich airport

> drive to see Rhine Falls ?

> check into hotel (am deciding between Dolder Grand or Widder Hotel) any recc which is better for 2 nights?

> walk around Zurich city or do a walking tour?

Appreciate any suggestions on the above. Thanks

Day 2

> From Zurich drive to either Interlaken or Grindelwald (plan is to see nice views and do a easy hike), which is a better option?

Or

> Book a 12 hour day trip to Jungfraujoch

Which view would be better to see?

Which restaurant would you recommend for a good fondue dinner in Zurich?

Day 3

> drive to Lucerne to explore the city and lake Lucerne

> check into Park Hotel Vitznau or Art Deco Hotel (which is a better hotel for 2 nights in terms of view and location) ?

Day 4

> explore Mt Rigi or Mt Titlis ?

Day 5

> Drive to Zurich airport at noon

Will appreciate any advise to the above itinerary. Thank you

Hello Sopz,

Just some thoughts, personal opinions.

For your plan, to travel by train instead of by car would be easier and more pleasant.

Day 2: Grindelwald. Classic hike Panorama-Trail Männlichen - Kleine Scheidegg.https://www.maennlichen.ch/en/panorama-trail.html

Jungfraujoch only by very good weather. Expensive. Awesome!

Best cheese fondue where french is spoken, not german like in Zurich. But in Zurich there is a "Fribourger Fonduestübli" that looks good. When in Zurich I would try it. http://www.fribourger-fondue-stuebli.ch/. Maybe someone else has a direct experience? Go for "moitié-moitié".

Day 4: Titlis is a high peak over 3000m with a little glacier on the top in the middle of the Alps. Rigi is a lower mountain, but very dominant over the central Switzerland lakes region and scenic. Both great daytrips.

Have fun!
