Best Hotel for $200 in Florence

I would like to spend between $200 and $250 a night for a nice room in Florence. Any recommendations?

Take a look at Il Villino, a great place just north of the Centro Storico. It's a short walk to the Duomo and there are several good restaurants close to the hotel.

The owners are wonderful and work hard to assure a comfortable stay. The neighborhood is quiet also.

It would be less than $200/night.

Rule number 1, in these times, do not, repeat, do not take posted rates as gospel. You may be able to save a whole lot of money by picking up the telephone and calling places. For whatever reason, they are afraid tell people on the Internet just how desperate they are to rent a room, but they will do it on the telephone.

Here are two possibilities.

1) The Principe, which has a lovely roof-top terrace with great views and a number of rooms with private balconies overlooking the river.

2) The Tornabuoni Beacci, a classic hotel in an ancient palace on the most elegant shopping street in Florence, which also has great views.

The Davanzati is a nice hotel but no views. the Hermitage has a nice little terrace with view over ponte Vecchio. And maybe these times with 250 USD you might even be able to afford the Degli Orafi.
