Places to eat

We will be coming to Venice in December, and staying in accommodation next to the Academy of Music. Could anyone please tell me if there is a restaurant or cafe nearby where we can have breakfast at a reasonable cost.

To answer your question (as opposed to providing a long copy-and-paste response which does not answer your question) the music conservatoire is very close to Campo San Stefano, which has several suitable cafes and restaurants. I can recommend one on a corner at the far (north) end - it might be called Da Fiore.

Da Fiore doesn't serve breakfast because it doesn't open until 12:30 p.m. And it's very expensive.

Venice is rather compact, so you can find reasonable places to eat all over the city.

In total agreement with Dhmellor here - Campo Santo Stefano has a number of places that will suit. Snack Bar Vidal is close to the Benedetto Marcello, but there is also All'Angolo opposite the church. Da Fiore (in Calle delle Botteghe opposite the church of Santo Stefano, not the expensive restaurant Monte is referring to) opens for coffee but has little in the way of breakfast food, its better as a cicchetteria lunchtime and evening. Al Bacareto further along the calle is open for breakfast, and is next to a handy alimentari, Da Rossi, for cheese, meat and snacks.

all'Angelo in Campo San Stefano, used to open at 7.30 am. I have not been there for several years but it was a good place for breakfast or lunch. Close by, in Calle de la Botteghe, did not open until 9 am but was a pleasant place for a light lunch
