Trains on time in Italy?

I'm thinking of travelling by train from Varenna to Como. It would mean 30 mins to make a connection in Milan.

So...how reliable are the trains to get to a destiantion o time in Italy?

for such a short distance, the train is quite on time.

however, is there a better way, I mean, have you check whether the ferry between Como and Varenna will meet your need?

There is a ferry direct form Varenna at 6.33 arriving at Como at 7.30 which may be a bit early for a train to London at 09.45

wow! train to LONDON?

the model answer will be fly to LONDON instead of train.

anyway, I'll definitely take the ferry and spend my time walking in Como (instead of waiting for train connection in Milan).
