Day Trip from Milan on a Sunday

We're going to be in Milan at the start of August and as it will be our third visit, we are thinking about a day trip to Lake Como or Como itself. It seems the easiest way to get there is by train. We are trying to decide whether just to go to Como itself or to try taking a boat trip somewhere else. Is there much to do in Como on a Sunday? Do the ferries operate on Sundays, if so what towns/village would you recommend we visit?

many thanks

Search other posts for the ferry schedule. I"m sorry I don't know it.

We loved Villa Carlotta - both the villa and the gardens are gorgeous. It's a nice boat ride from Como (or from Varenna - which also has train service from Milan.)

We also enjoyed going up the funicular to Brunate and had a wonderful dinner there at Trattoria del Cacciatore.

That would make a wonderful day.
