Varenna - little orange house

Does anyone know or have any familiarity with the 2 storey narrow little house in Fiumelatte (close to Varenna) described as “Beautiful little house with breathtaking views – Varenna”. It is also known as the La Tour Orange Home. I would greatly appreciate any comments on it & whether you would recommend it as a centre for exploring Lake Como, etc.

Multo grazie !

Do you mean the Orange House B&B??

If so, it would be an excellent accommodation for touring Lake Como.

Here are all its outstanding reviews!

Thanks for your response.

No it is not the Orange House B&B that I am enquiring about.

The one I am referring to is a self-catering house in Fiumelatte. It is shown at

I welcome any comments.

Will you have a car? Though it says no car necessary, Varenna is 1,5 km away and that road is not easily walked. You will need to get to Varenna for the ferry.

Morning Vagabonda

Will not have a car (enough driving & traffic at home !).

At http://tourorangefiumelatte.blogspot.com/ which is a blog for the house, it says there are 2 pedestrian pathways which will take you from Fiumelatte to downtown Varenna in about 20 min. We are good walkers so 20 min is no problem, as long as it is safe.

What do you think ?

I think you will be fine then with the pedestrian paths. The road that runs along the lake at that point certainly is not walkable, but with paths from the town to Varenna - that's good.

It's a very beautiful area and you will love Lake Como!

Enjoy!

just back from this house. it is quite a fair walk, which you have to do at least twice a day as there is nothing nearby except one little restaurant
