How are beaches in genoa?

Spending a week sightseeing in Italy with a group of mates but want to relax at least one full day. Is Genoa good for the beaches, accessibility etc?

There are no beaches in Genoa, only concrete bathing places among the rocks. The nearest conventional beaches are probably at Arenzano to the west and Recco to the east, and beaches further away from these are better.
