Pompeii or Mt. Vesuvius?

My sister and I are going on a trip to Italy in a couple of weeks and only have a day in the Naples area. Which location do you suggest for a day trip? Thanks for your suggestions!

Pompeii is more of a day trip as it would take a good amount of time to see the site.

Take the train from Naples lower basement station to Sorrento and Pompeii www.eavsrl.it/web/content/orario-ferrovia

Buses depart outside the excavation to Vesuvius

Vesuvio is not that interesting, it’s just a vulcano...not that pretty of a hike either. Yes some nice views but so what? You get those in a million other, prettier places.

Pompeii on the other hand, is the only one in the world...

Pompeii is excellent and worth the go, agree it is a day trip to be able to see everything but worth it. Vesuvius really not much to see except a mountain and a crater in the ground

I would agree Pompeii is well worth a visit, a lot of the time on Vesuvius ,

you get no views only a heat haze, best to look at from afar,

I can imagine that Vesuvius might have some inerest for anyone interested in volcanoes and geology. But for me, Pompeii has far more going for it.

Herculaneum AND Vesuvius! You have time to see both of those in a day. You'll have to come back another time and allow a couple of days to see Pompeii!

It's interesting but it wouldn't take a day like Pompeii would.
