Amalfi, Positano and Ravello visit by bus from Sorrento?

hi Tripadvisors

We have 7 nights to spend in Sorrento/Costa Amalfitana and Ischia.

We were thinking of 3 nights in Ischia and 4 in Sorrento/Costa Amalfitana

For the Sorrento/Costa Amalfitana part, the plan "currently" is:

- visit Pompeii

- Costa Amalfitana: Amalfi, Positano and Ravello's gardens

- Sorrento: either staying there or as we pass by

I guess it makes sense to base at Sorrento?

Without car, are Amalfi, Positano and Ravello's gardens different visits from Sorrento, or can you make them on a single day by bus?

Thanks

Hi

If you stay in Sorrento, you can use the local train to visit Pompeii. The Campania Express train is more comfortable, tends not to attract pickpockets and runs during the summer months. All timetables and info are on the website below.

It would be better to visit the Amalfi Coast over two days. You can do it in one day but it will be rushed, The public buses are usually packed full with standing room only and the ferry to Positano usually starts mid-May, and it's not very frequent.

Therefore I would suggest getting the earliest Coast To Coast Coach from top left hand corner of Sorrento bus/train station to Positano at 10 euros each. After exploring Positano, you can get a ferry to Amalfi for 8 euros each. If you get back on the CTC Coach, it's 6 euros. Another bus or coach can take you from Amalfi bus station up the hill to Ravello. Show your original tickets on the CTC Coach and it's 6 euros from Amalfi to Sorrento.

My photo album is below and shoes most of the area including Ischia and Procida. We've been to the Mortella Gardens twice and they are superb, I didn't include any pictures though. Move your cursor onto each pic to see where it was taken.
