Touring Rome from June 4-11th, prebook tours or no?

My bf and I will be going to Rome June 4-11th... should we prebook tours and tickets or can we wing it because the students and families won't be traveling yet?.

Tours in Rome are generally not a good idea because so many of the sights are in pedestrian areas. You do better to get hold of a guidebook and plan your own walking tour.

June is getting on for peak tourist time. If you want to visit the Vatican Museums, Colosseum or Galleria Borghese, you need to buy tickets in advance.
