Rome to Naples

We are flying into Rome at 9 am and planning to take Leonardo express train to the Termini station, and then take a train to Naples from there, should I

1. Wait to buy tickets to Naples once there? Are they cheaper in advance?

2. Buy them ahead of time on the Italiarail site, but if we get in at 9:00 is it feesible to depart from Rome at 11:53?

Most people don't buy in advance because you can't know if your plane will be on time or if landing and getting out of the airport will take longer than usual, and your discounted ticket will be useless if you miss the train you bought (only the full BASE fare allows an hour after the scheduled train).

In any case, do not buy from ItaliaRail. It is only a ticket agency, and you do not need an agency between you and the train company. If you do decide to buy in advance, buy from www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en or its competitor www.italotreno.it/en
