10 day Italy Trip

Hello Fellow Travelers,

I am traveling with my 5 year old and my aunt from Los Angeles. We will be in greece for a week prior to landing in Rome. We are traveling from July 14-25 in Italy. I was wondering if my itinerary is ideal.

Rome

Florence

Milan

Fly out from Milan back to Los Angeles.

Is our itinerary doable for 10 day trip? Thank you so much in advance.

Kat

It will be rushed with only 10 days. If you are only going to Milan in order to catch your flight home that makes it better.

Are you sleeping 10 nights in Italy?

IDEA for 10 days/10 nights, with travel time, fly in Rome/out Milan:

--arrive Rome, 1/2 day settle

--Rome 3.5 days/4 nights

--train to Florence 1/2 day

--Florence 3.5 days/4 nights (day trip Lucca)

--train to Milan 1/2 day

--Milan 1.5 days/2 nights

--fly out Milan

Or add one more day for Rome so you can take a day trip to pretty Orvieto; with just your departure night for Milan.

If going to Milan only to fly out [and not locked into the flight] then IMO you are better off flying out of Rome--heading to Florence directly by train and staying in Rome last, thus saving a hotel change.

You want to get closer to your point of departure before departure so as to save money and time as was suggested in the previous two or three responses. You might want to eliminate one of those cities from your itinerary so as to be able to manage time better without delays before departure. You will be rushing hurriedly through these three large cities probably at your disadvantage short-changing yourselves and Italy. Milan is far to the north. Time will be needed to get there. Florence and Rome within limits might be more doable in part because of their location. I not think that your proposed itinerary is doable comfortably in ten days. Redraw part of your itinerary. What you do not see this time will be there for another voyage. Hope this helps.

thank you so much for all your replies. I was thinking the same thing about my itinerary. my first choice for our last city to explore and fly out was Venice. I wasn't sure if there was a lot of things I can do with a 5-year-old. Essentially we will have 10 nights and 11 days in Italy. The week prior we will be traveling in Greece for a week.

With 10 nights in Italy why don't you do Rome Florence and Venice and only do Milan because you have to fly out as there is very little to see and do in Milan.
