Looking for where the bus stops to go to furingorola and other places from carihuela thanks.
Walk up to Avenida Carlotta Alessandri ( the main road behind Carihuela) There are several Bus stops along there. The stops have a board which tells you which bus stops there.
Where are you staying.
The Li and L2 are local buses which trundle around Torremolinos fro one end at Los Alamos rights up to Puerto Benalmadena. Buy a bono card at Torre Terminus. This makes each ride 59cents each. More than one person can use the 10 ride card.
Staying in Carihuela Beach Apartments right in the centre thanks for the advice on buses be great to get around
If your staying at the carihuela beach apartments, walk forward between the two bar america units to Pje. Cdad. de Porcuna, look to your left and locate Palm Beach apartments on the opposite side of the road to your left. If fit walk up the steps alongside palm beach to the main road, (note if you want the L1 bus it stops outside Palm beach) at the top of the steps at the main road the fuengilrola stop is too your left across the road outside the large Harley Davidson motor bike shop.
If your not able to do the steps, turn right and walk to the next left turn (has the dutch bar Sala DE ester Huiskamer) on this corner, turn up to the main road, at the top cross over and turn left, the bus stop outside Villa Albero. Remember there all request stops, if you dont put your hand out the bus will fly past. You need 120 service for Fuengirola.
Get hold of the street map from the tourist office.
It shows the L1 and L2 routes and all the stops very clearly The routes are very windy and often double back on them selves.
I think it's a good idea to get yourself to the bus station, buy the bono card for 5.90 for ten rides then do a complete circuit of each route, following it on the map as you go. That was you will certainly get your bearings
The stops may be shown on a map but not at street level. On the L1 route in the carihuela area, the bus stop sign for the carihuela stop is positioned outside villa albero, yet the actual bus stop is on the other side of the road opposite hotel lloyd, the next but one stop Higueras Del castillo is totally unmarked, no bus stop sign, or road markings, but as other stops on the route is the zebra crossing.
It should also be remembered the L1 takes a different route on a thursday market day, this is not shown on any maps and is a different timetable to other days.
I accept both buses are useful for exploring the area and I fully agree the route often doubles back, which is ideal for us as we can sit in our favourite bars and wait for the bus to pass, get up pay and walk to the bus stop knowing it will return in 5 minutes.
THe 123 is also a useful bus as it starts at the windmill roundabout in benalmadena, goes through torremolinos centre and then follows the L2 route through los alamos and then onwards to Plaza mayor retail park.
Trickster is right the 5.90 price for a bonotren is a huge saving on the 1.30 normal rate. less then half price.
