We are first timers to europe and are a bit worried about driving in Germany. We arrive into Munich early 31st April and will have 2 days there. We were then planning to hire a car and drive to Regensburg on a Thursday morning. Is the road less busy than the Autobahns? The reason we want a car is that we are hoping to trace my partner's family history and would perhaps need to drive around to different places within Regensburg. Or is it easy enough to get around using public transport?
Another question... Does anyone know of a Catholic convent in the area that would have taken in orphaned girls in the 1930s -40s and where there would be archives kept of that era?
If we didn't have a car can we get from Regensburg to Budapest by train rather than having to drive back to Munich to drop off the car?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm at the point of having to book things soon.
Thanks
