Rhine Gorge Cruise

Are there any day cruises that originate in or around Mannheim that travel through the Rhine Gorge? It looks that that would be an awesome cruise.

Thank you

No, the Middle Rhine gorge is way too far from Mannheim. Its most scenic part is between Bingen and St Goar or Boppard, so it makes the most sense to travel by train to Bingen and cruise downriver from there.

From Mannheim it's possible to cruise up the Neckar River, but probably best done from Heidelberg.

That would take forever and a day from Mannheim. Do as Oli-6 suggests - take the train to Bingen, board there, get off in St. Goar (1.5 hours later) or Boppard (2.3 hours.) Then spend the forever-and-a-day you saved by using the train to visit other west-bank villages (Oberwesel, Bacharach.)

Train ticket: Whether you are returning to Mannheim or not, be aware that you can use a day pass for nearly unlimited travel called the Rheinland-Pfalz ticket. It's €29/2 adults/day. Buy it from a Mannheim ticket machine, use the regional trains (not the IC or ICE) and travel at any hour (but observe the weekday after-9-am restriction.) Here's a map of train routes you can use:
