First visit to Germany

My 20 year old son is leaving for Germany for Oktoberfest festivities and hasn't thought beyond packing a bag. I would like to map out how to get to/from his destinations. Here's the route. Would appreciate any info you could provide to help him navigate to/from destinations.

Arriving in Zurich and planning a day long visit before boarding a train to Konstanz. Need help with getting to the city centre, what to do with luggage, how to get to Konstanz later in the day??

From Konstanz, will be taking a train to Munich and his hotel. Best route/train to Munich? What's the best way to navigate through Munich (bus??). Any tips on Oktoberfest would be appreciated.

Lastly, getting to the airport in Munich, what's the best way?

SBB timetable

From: Zürich Airport

To: Zürich HB

To: Konstanz

There are frequent trains from the airport to Zürich HB (the main train station).

The city center is between the main train station and Lake Zürich.

To Konstanz there are hourly direct IR trains.

DB timetable

Start: Konstanz

Destination: Munich

There are various possible routes. One option is start by catamaran ferry to Friedrichshafen and from there by train.

MVV Munich local public transport

S-Bahn (suburban trains), U-Bahn (metro), trams. There are also buses but few directly in the city center. MVV tickets cover generally all means of local public transport.

To the airport: S-Bahn S1 or S8.

Thanks for the train information. This will definitely be helpful. I do have another question if you don't mind. I'm told that once in Zurich, you can take a train from the airport to Hotel Banhoff where you can store your luggage for the duration of your sightseeing. I can't seem to find this hotel in order to know what train to take there. Can you help with this?

Zürich HB = Hauptbahnhof (not Hotel Banhoff) i.e. the main train station

Guess someone has interpreted the shortcut HB in a wrong way.

You can find luggage lockers and a left luggage office at Zürich HB.
