Train/bus to Frejus

Train/bus to Frejus

Can anyone please advise how to get from nice centre to frejus please? I need to do the journey on a Monday and arrive around 10am or 11am. I can see there is a zou express bus (60 or 90) which only takes an hour but can't find the cost and not sure what other options there are. Many thanks for any help.

There is a lot of connectivity via train, all involve one change either in Cannes or Saint-Raphael - Valescure:

The train from “Nice Saint-Augustin” station gets you to Frejus. It takes approximately 90 minutes.

The tram outside the airport door, either at T1 or T2, takes you to that station for free. The tram stop you need to exit at is “Grand Arenas”, it’s the first tram stop after the airport T1.

The trams are pretty frequent and everything is displayed electronically at each stop so you will know how long to wait for the next tram.

There is a tram line map visible inside each carriage to calculate the number of stops you need to take. The LCD screen displays the next stop on it. The announcements for each stop are also very clear. It’s rather foolproof so don’t worry, just be observant.

See tram L2 &L3 map here:

The Nice Saint Augustin train station moved in September 2022 to beside the Grand Arenas stop. You can see where it is here in relation to the Grand Arenas tram stop: See street view map below

You can also check live arrivals/departures re platforms in real time as if you were at the train station in Nice-Saint-Augustin, see: https://www.sncf.com/en/stations/nice-saint-augustin/OCE87756254/departures-arrivals/gl/departures

Train timetable here (scroll down):

For train fares, go to https://www.sncf-connect.com/, or download the sncf-connect app.

The main rail station in the St. Raphael - Frejus conurbation is St. Raphael. There are frequent buses from the bus station behind the rail station that will take you on to wherever it is in Frejus you need to go, or there’s a taxi rank at the front of the station.

The timetable of the (less frequent) No. 60 bus is here:

You can check the fare and buy a ticket on the Zou! app.

There’s another Zou bus, No.90 from Nice airport Terminal 2 which runs, I think 5 times a day. You can check that out on the Zou! app also.

The #90 Zou bus timetable is here:

Flixbus also operates that route but I think it’s only once a day.

Fréjus train station and Fréjus bus station are in Fréjus town, which is about 3 km from the sea. There is also a large part of Fréjus called Fréjus Plage which is next to the sea, and parts of which are closer to Saint-Raphael train station than to Fréjus bus station and Fréjus train station. So best check where you want to go exactly.

If you’re going by train, there’s no need to go to Nice-Ville station when Nice Saint-Augustin is just beside the airport. It’s a small train station of just 2 platforms so easy to navigate.

Top tips:

Download the SNCF Connect app on your phone. This app has timetables, tickets for purchase and the storing of your purchased ticket all in one accessible place. You have a QR code for these tickets so it’s best to screenshot it and that’s your way around not having internet. Your SNCF train e-ticket doesn’t need to be validated, the inspector just scans the QR code. See: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/tools/mobile-app

You can check live arrivals/departures re platforms in real time as if you were at the train station in Nice-Ville or whatever train station you require already. See: https://www.sncf.com/fr/itineraire-reservation/horaires

You can download the “Ma Gare SNCF” app here for your phone: https://www.garesetconnexions.sncf/en/ma-gare-sncf

Here’s Nice Saint-Augustin’s live arrivals and departures - just scroll down to the blue section below:
