Day Trips to the Country?

Can people recommend nice village / country destinations for day-trips from Hyeres? Looking to get away from the beach / tropical coast scene and something more in the country. Particularly interested in small picturesque villages, scenic drives, gentle hiking trails, great farm-fresh restaurants, vineyards, mountains, streams, etc!

Many thanks.

Check Collobrières just north east of Hyères. But you need to check in the local papers for trail closures in the Massif des Maures as they close some trails in the summer months to prevent wildfires.

Summer is not optimal as many of the trails will be closed because of the risk of fire.

Some suggestions, not too far back from the coast but not on the coast.

There are lots of vineyards in the area, and many can be visited. There are also farms with direct sales etc. for instance on the road D88 from La Londe towards north.

The road D41 from Bormes les Mimosas is scenic and you will have access to trails from there.

Mont Boron behind Toulon has interesting vegetation and great views both to the sea and inland.

Route des Cretes from Cassis to La Ciotat (better to drive this way) is worth a visit I think.

Gorges du Verdon area is in its own class, small villages here and there in the area, too.
