Aix en Provence or Luberon/Lourmarin

I'm coming off a cruise ship for one day in Marseilles (9am-6pm). We are looking to go wine tasting. One tour offers two tasting at Château La Dorgonne and Domaine de Saint-Ser, with 2 hours looking around Aix-en-Provence. The other tour tastes wine in south Luberon with free time in Lourmarin. Any comments on the wines at those two places, and which tour would you choose? I'm looking for great wine and beautiful scenery and ambiance. Thank you!

Scenery and ambience and wine are all good.

The main difference is that Aix is a full-size, real, lively town. Lots of pedestrian streets, shopping, squares and people watching.

The luberon villages are quieter, tiny, quaint, rural remote and perched.

None of the wines in these regions are exceptional.

The Luberon is much prettier and more "Provencal."

As Dat says the wines in this region are not exceptional though perfectly drinkable - as my loyalty card for our local Cave will vouch for.

It really comes down whether you prefer a large town to look around or a smaller village. Lourmarin gets very touristy in late July and August and the market day on Friday is always busy.

Try some of the white wines from Cassis, the reds from Palette, and the rosé's from Coteaux Provence, They all have their own particular charms.
