Does Your Newspaper Have A Good (Paris) Travel Section?

For instance, I read the NY Times and there seems to be good articles on Paris and travel in general on a pretty regular basis.

How about your newspaper? Do you get good coverage on Paris travel?

Pix,

I read the L.A. Times and ever since they were purchased by the Tribune Company from the founding Chandler family, their coverage has shrunk - it is terrible. Before then, they actually were pretty good - they had a weekly column from a writer in Paris even!

That's why I enjoy your posts, at least they're interesting articles.

The Chicago Trib has changed. Not the best anymore and often not a lot on Paris. I also read the NY Times for info plus Budget Travel web site and anything else I can find.

My paper is the Ottawa Citizen and it doesn't feature all that much in the travel section re Paris.

However, a frequent contributor of a column elsewhere in the paper is Keith Spicer, a former editor of the paper, the first Official Languages Commissioner and now resident of Paris.

I enjoyed his recent book "Paris Passions".

I was an avid reader of a column the L.A. Times had by Susan Spanos: Postcard from Paris.

She was posted to Paris for a year and often wrote of the everyday stuff that tourists never catch a whiff of..... it was a delightful column, full of the stuff that residents of Paris take for granted, yet tourists never even think of.......

Then the Chicago Tribune took over and........... no more "Postcards from Paris"..........

I googled her and this is what I found:

I read the NY TImes online every morning. Then I read my local paper online... Le Figaro. I'd say its Paris coverage is excellent.

I was teasing, but my point is that we all get them same coverage these days... it is just a URL away.

Yes, some of us still read newspapers... there's something about holding the newsprint in your hands... it just doesn't work for me looking at a computer screen.
