Trip to Europe between the end of June and early July

Hi! I am planning a trip to Europe backpacking with my brother. It's a 2 week trip and we have decided to visit Paris (4N), Bruges(2N), Brussels (1N) and Amsterdam (3N). This leaves us with 2 nights to spare. Any recommendations on where we should go? I was thinking Cologne/Luxembourg but feel free to recommend any new ideas

When you allow for travel time and changing hotels, you have to spend 2 nights in a place to get one full day. You will have no time to see anything of Brussels. Either cut it out of your plan, or add another night there. That leaves you with one night to add to Paris.

Thank you! Any recommendations as to where I should go if I intend to scrap Brussels from my itinerary?

This is a very rare occasion when I am going to disagree with sydneynick - Brussels is so close to Bruges, Paris and Amsterdam that you will arrive mid-morning, have pretty much a full day to see it, stay the night and then move on. There isn't much more than 2 days' worth of stuff to see in Brussels so 1 night would be fine for me. It also sits in the middle of the train route between Paris and Amsterdam, so you will have to go through there anyway.

Cologne would be the obvious location that would be different from the other places you are visiting and still reasonably accessible, but check the train timetables. Otherwise you could head to Lille (another pretty Flemish town) and then on to Amiens.

I'd add a night to Paris and a night to Amsterdam and then you might have time for a day trip from each. Strasbourg is nice, different from Paris, and easy to get to. Or Lyon. Or Tours.

Cologne is probably nice too, but I haven't been there yet.
