Will be in derby for couple of days from Sunday. Looking for nice restaurant for Monday night with wife in centre?
I guess it depends on your definition of "nice".
The best restaurant slap bang in the city centre is probably Zest at The Old Bell Hotel. Seven on Pride Park is just outside the city centre, you'll need a taxi, but is highly rated. Also popular is Masa on Brook Street, probably a ten minute walk from city centre.
There's the usual chains such as Zizzi, Ask Italian and Pizza Express dotted about on Irongate and/or Friargate. There's a couple of high end Indians on Friargate too.
Finally there's a few places inside Blacksmith's Yard just off Sadler Gate that are ok too. Not fine dining like Masa, Seven or Zest, but a step up from chains.
Hope this helps.Edited: 28 May 2017, 00:28
Thank you that helps a lot
As it's a bank holiday will it be more like a Saturday night?
"As it's a bank holiday will it be more like a Saturday night?"
Probably not. Likely to be relatively quiet to be honest.
Sunday night will probably be busier and more lively as people won't be getting up for work Monday.
Lorentes on Irongate is a very good real Spanish restaurant - you'd need to book though. There are a few other good places to eat along Irongate right up to La Pizza just under and past the Irongate bridge on the right hand side. The atmosphere along Irongate is usually quite good too - busy but not too much so.
I think you mean Friargate Jackie.
Thanks all for your info.
