Glasgow Family 3 Day Trip Suggestions

Hi,

I am planning to travel to Glasgow in September second week with my wife and 1 year old kid.

Day 1: Reach Glasgow by afternoon/evening.

Day 2: Full Day

Day 3: Full Day

Day 4: Leave at Noon.

I know the time is too short. Not looking to cover many places but few very good places in leisure.

Note:

1. Travelling by train and prefer travelling by Train or other public transport in and around Glasgow.

2. Love to see natural Landscape or Seaside. Not much into Castle.

Any suggestions please. Thanks in advance.

The HoHo bus will give you an overview of the city.

The Subway is an easy way to get about.

For a day trip you could head to the coast, Largs or Ayr or even have a day on Arran.

Pitlochry has some lovely walks in pleasant countryside and for a completely different city Edinburgh is less than an hour away by train.

Glasgow has the largest Suburban Rail Network in the UK outside of London!

Therefore you have loads of options for day trips out of the City in under an hour, and with many services at 30 minute intervals!

Ayrshire Coast for Beaches like Ayr and Troon.

For Highland Scenery on our doorstep then Balloch (Loch Lomond) is only 45 minutes by train, and if you travel off peak (after 09:15, Mon-Fri) it is only £6 Return!

As well as Alan's (good) suggestions:

Glasgow has some great (free) museums such as Kelvingrove, or the Riverside Museum of transport.

If you like train journeys you could go to Fort William and back in a day. Fort William itself is not particularly attractive, but the scenery en route is. Alternatively you could go part of the way (such as to Corrour House restaurant or the Bridge of Orchy hotel), have lunch and then come back.

There are many nice places to eat - the House for an Art lover has a lovely cafe in a beautiful building, and it is nice to sit outside on a sunny day.

For landscape, it's got to be the Loch Lomond area. It is some of the easiest access fantastic landscape in the country. Train to Balloch for that destination.

Take the HoHo bus in Glasgow and use that first loop to decide on where to visit in Glasgow. I would highly recommend the Kelvingrove Museum and Gallery but the city does have multiple truly world-class museums.
