A few hours to kill downtown...

Hi

I’ve got about 4 hours to kill midweek between coming in from Oban and leaving again for London.

Could anyone recommend...

A great whisky shop, a great book shop and a great cafe

to while away the time.

Downtown rather than West End, ideally.

Thanks

We don't have a downtown but in the city centre, there is a whisky shop in Buchanan Galleries and a few streets further away The Good Spirits company on Bath Street.

Waterstones on Sauchiehall Street for books, also has a coffee shop.

I agree with Alan.

Singl-End is a very good cafe (although it gets busy) not too far from Waterstones as is Cafe Smile (Italian)

The Good Spirits Co on Bath Street is definitely a better option than the Whisky Shop in Buchanan Galleries in my opinion - not exclusively Whisky but still a large and interesting selection and very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

I'm sure there's another independent whisky shop in the area which I can't remember the name - perhaps around the West George St/Nelson Mandela Place area - maybe someone else knows the one....

Oliver the one you are thinking about is in W.George St in between Wagamama and Sarti’s.

It also specialises in Fine Cigars and Gins, Robert Graham’s.

Nice cafe - Cafe Gandolfi.Lots of atmosphere.Waterstone's in Sauchiehall St is excellent particularly given the chance to sit with a coffee or tea while you peruse some books.
