Snowdon hike, travelling from London but no car.

Hi,

Me and my friends are planning to visit snowdonia from London on the may long weekend. We want to do the Snowdon hike.

I wanted to ask which is the nearest hotel/lodge from the hike starting point, do they have buses which can take you from the hotel to the hike point ?

how do we travel there from London ?

The easiest path up Snowdon starts from Llanberis. There are lots of places there you can stay, then you just walk up. You would need to get a bus there from Bangor railway station. See buses at www.traveline.cymru.

Alternatively, you could stay in Betws-y-Coed, which has its own railway station. From there you can get the Snowdon Sherpa bus to the Pen-y-Pass car park - this is where the shorter but tougher paths called the Miners' Track and Pyg Track start from. Then you can either come back the same way, or walk down to Llanberis for a bus back to Betws-y-Coed. …llyw.cymru/en/…Snowdon-Sherpa.aspx

For trains to Bangor or Betws-y-Coed, see www.nationalrail.co.uk. You've left it quite late to book, so there may not be many cheap tickets left.

Given how easy it is to Google how to get from London to Snowdon, can I hope you've done a bit more research on the walk itself? ☺

Hi,

Thank you for the info.

We are planning to take the Llanberis Path. I gathered form google that its the easiest of all paths.

I will see if I can find something to live in Llanberis.
