We found this via the owners website and I suppose should have been forewarned by the owners sloppy admin. as an indication of what to expect.
The let is a two bedroomed red brick terrace cottage with rear extension housing the kitchen and dining area. On road parking available if you beat the neighbours to it.
From looking at the website photograps and the actual state of the place it is obviously several years since it was first used as a holidat let and it hasn't had any maintenance since. Off white sofas were filthy ( either the owners or previous guests had dogs as there were muddy streaks along the sides of the one in the rear reception room) but all of the seats were grubby.
The place was jam packed with curios and finds from junk/antique shops to the extent there was little place to put any of your own stuff., store food in cupboards in the kitchen etc . The only good point was that it was well stocked with books. The place was badly organised for a holiday let e.g 3 different cafetierres but no pegs for the washing line. We had to search for local information in the house and eventually found it under personal correspondence and piles of instruction booklets for the properties equipment.
All the main items of furniture needed replacing. The beds were particularly bad; the double bedroom havinga terribly soft mattress and a passion killing squeaky metal bedstead and base! The rear bedroom had no curtains, just an off-white blind which meant our children woke up way too early in the summer light.
Lavenham is a lovely place but this holiday let was not a relaxing place to stay. A real shame.
