Should We Buy An Oyster Card

My wife and I will be in London for 5 days in November.

We are staying at a B&B in zone 2

We will be using the tube to go downtown each day to do all the touristy things. Is the Oyster card the best way to do it? Can one buy 3 or 5 day travel passes?

How do you "top up" your oyster card if it runs out?

Thanks.

There are no 3 or 5 day travelcards, however for a 5 day stay, the seven day travelcard works best; £29.20 compared to five off peak one day cards or Oyster cap of £7 (and the seven day card allows peak travel too).

You can get seven day travelcards loaded onto Oyster, plus a bit of pay as you go credit for out of zone travel including from/to Heathrow.

But, one thing you may choose to benefit from are the 2 for 1 offers from daysoutguide.

If you'd like to use these, then Oyster doesn't qualify and you'd need paper travelcards from a national rail station. The link in post 1 gives you the full lowdown on what you need.

If you need any help, then please come back, and let us know where in zone 2 your B&B is located, as that will help us help you.
