Half a day in Exeter with OAP

Hi, I'll be in Exeter (beginning of July) and I'll have about half a day to spend in the city with my mom (74). Could you suggest any "must sees" that does not require much walking? Is parking an issue in the centre? Thank you.

Parking is not an issue if you are prepared to pay for it. (Approx £10 for a day)

Really depends on what you are interested in but the cathedral may be worth a look around (entrance charge applies), the red coat tours of the city are very interesting but do involve walking around with a tour guide.

Personally, I would probably take the little ferry ride down the canal to double locks pub and back and have lunch there or a cream tea at the quayside at the beginning/ end of the trip. But although this is a nice trip you could be anywhere, so if you want to experience Exeter rather than just a nice trip then maybe not for you.

Hello! If you only have limited time, the Cathedral has to be the must see. Wonderful ancient building

It sounds as though your mother lives in Exeter? It would help to know what she has experienced.

Perhaps research areas outside of the city with views and tea rooms as you have so short a time.

The Red Coat tours are excellent but do involve walking and standing while the talks are given. It does depend on the lady.

The cathedral is lovely and of course you can sit down.

A river trip (you can go on the Exe down the estuary) maybe a better choice if the weather is fine. There is a museum.

Anything else in a city is going to involve walking.

If walking is an issue you might like to consider the Shopmobility scheme-

With free car parking and only £5 hire charge, it works out cheaper than just parking the car and going on foot.
