3 weeks, 3 bases

We are planning on covering as much as Cornwall and Devon next year as three weeks allows and thought about a different base for each week. However there is so much choice we seem more confused than when we started. We initially thought a first stop around Falmouth. If we did this what would people suggest as a second and third stop coming back into Devon? Would you split it north and south? Any advise would be great.

We will have a car, travelling as two adults two children.

Many thanks in advance :0)

Many great options. I'd spend a week first in North Devon, maybe around Lynton, then go for my week in Cornwall then return for a week in S Devon near to Totnes. Alternatively near Sidmouth , to take in a different kind of coastal scenery. and landscape.

Take a look at the South Hams area of Devon. Although close to the traditional tourist hotspots it has a very different vibe and remains unspoilt by development. I recently stayed around Slapton; very rural yet convenient for Dartmouth (riverboat ride to Dittisham and Dart Railway trips recommended) and Salcombe plus a super beach at Blackpool Sands. Dartmoor not too far either. Also handy for main northbound routes when the time comes!

Ditto to all that's said in post #2 for South Hams area. We're off there (again) in a few weeks.

So many options of where to go and what to do in South Hams; and Bantham beach beats Blackpool Sands IMO.

East Devon could be one of those stops, giving you great access to Jurassic Coast, Exe Estuary, Exeter, Dartmoor, and beyond.
