Any good down to earth eating places??

My parents are heading to St Helier and are staying B&B. They are quite plain eaters (scampi, steak pie, etc etc) and are looking for suggestions as to Pubs,Restaurants and Hotels for their Evening Meal.

A couple of minutes walk past the Ommaroo heading East is the White Horse pub, very good food and one of the rare pubs with a beer garden overlooking the sea.

Brilliant..thank you so much for your help. They are elderly and such plain eaters. Just trying to find the good pub grub basically.

If you let us know where they are staying, we can advise places within easy walking distance. The Ommarroo that has been mentioned is in Havre des Pas, so quite a walk from parts of St. Helier.

The Sandranne is on Rouge Bouillon and it is not far to walk into St. Helier. If they want to push the boat out a bit for some meals, Restaurant 1840 at the Savoy Hotel is almost opposite their hotel. Another very nice restaurant is Doran's Courtyard Bistro in Kensington Place, a little pricey but very good traditional food.

Kensington Place is a good one to aim for as there are lots of restaurants. Case Mia and Aromas are both Italian restaurants that serve good basic food and nearer to their hotel is The Adephi Lounge, a traditional pub that serves very good pub food.If they like Indian food (but your post suggests they may not), Cafe Spice also in Kensington Place is, in my opinion, the best Indian restaurant in Jersey. If they head to the Royal Square where there is plenty of outside eating, the Cock and Bottle serves very good traditional pub food. Another good option for pub food is the Lamplighter near the Weighbridge. It is also near the main taxi rank so they could alway get a taxi back to the hotel after their meal. Very reasonably priced and favourites like Steak and Kidney pudding, fish and chips etc. On Tuesday and Thursday they have steak nights that are very good value.

A nice Italian restaurant 'La Cantina' is also fairly near to their hotel.

Lots of options really and if they are a little more adventurous, they can get the bus into either Gorey lots of restaurants and a busy pub (The Dolphin that serves good food) or St. Aubin where there is also lots of choice.
