I was just trying to find out if anyone has had this issue with Booking.com....

I booked a place through them for a bank holiday weekend stay in Brighton but the provider cancelled 8 days before the trip date. Booking.com do not allow your money to transfer to another booking so I was left with no alternative but to book and pay again through Air b and b this time (who were great)

Booking.com then tell me by email that my refund (£478) will be back in my account in the super fast time of 7-12 days!! After that time elapsed and still no money I phoned them... Actually it's 7-12 working days! Now that time elapsed 4 days ago and still no refund! (18 days after refund apparently actioned!).. I'm now really angry as I need the money but literally no one there cares!!

So, has anyone else experienced this poor customer service? I'm getting to the point where I think they are just going to keep the money! it's so frustrating!

Anyone got any advice? Oh... and please be aware next time you are paying your money over to them that if something happens with your accommodation provider and the booking cancels you will be expected to pay again for another booking and that you may have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to receive a refund. .

Was this a hotel or an appartment? I find with Booking.com that hotel stays are seamless and work as expected. Appartment stays can be a pain, Booking are not set up to administer them and the accomodation providers are tinpot outfits.

Airbnb is better for appartments as they hold the money until you get there and refunds are processed promptly.

I've never had any problems with them.

But I've always chosen the free cancellation option where you pay on arrival at the accommodation.

Never had any problems.

They charged me for a non-show for my step daughter at a hotel in New York where in fact she did show.

Contacted Booking, they double checked,admitted the hotel had erred and money was back on my cc within a week

My family has had them cancel on us a couple of times but we have never had a problem getting money back. Personally we do not use them anymore after the cancellations which were both last minute. Good luck.

I won't book a rental on Booking.com. On the rare occasions that I rent a holiday home, I go to a specialist company.

I have never had an issue with hotel bookings, but I wish they had not involved themselves in the rental market.

+1 to post 3, I never want to pay 100% up front unless I truly want a non-Flexible rate that is saving me ££.
