Cotswolds or Canterbury

Hi ..

i am traveling to UK in June end.

Upon suggestion from a frnd from uk, I decided to hire a car and do a day trip to Cotswolds.

Now another friend has suggested to day a day trip to Canterbury.

So just wanted to know... which place is better in terms of scenic beauty.. I have read about Cotswolds but have no idea about Canterbury.

Your suggestions are needed :)

One of them is a historic city that you can walk across in 15 minutes. The other is a range of hills covering hundreds of square miles. In what sense do you want us to compare them for you?

If you want to walk in the countryside, go to the Cotswolds (though there are many places closer to London). If you want to visit one of England's finest and most historic cathedrals, go to Canterbury.

And if you do go to Canterbury, don't waste time hiring a car - take the train.

You don't need a car for Canterbury. It'll take you a lot of time to drive out of London. Parking in Canterbury is another pain in the butt issue.

Go to the Cotswolds.

You really cannot compare....cotswolds will need a few days to enjoy and appreciate....but it has to be Canterbury by train......which can be enjoyed in a full day unlike Cotswolds.

The dilemma you have is, do you drive 100 odd miles to the Cotswolds which are lovely, and choose what to see, or do you get a train to Canterbury, visit the Cathedral and lovely city. Hopefully you can decide 🙂

You can’t really compare these two destinations as they are two completely different types of day out. Really depends what you want out of your visit. Canterbury is a small city but very busy, lively and touristy as it’s one of the most visited small cities in the UK. There’s a very pretty and atmospheric old quarter by the cathedral, and a very modern shopping quarter as well, and a good range of places to eat and drink.

Thank you everyone. Will decide but most probably will go to Cotswolds.
