Going to Vancouver from Toronto and then likely onto Whistler. If we wanted to tack on Tofino, what makes most sense .... should we go before Vancouver or after Whistler to Tofino .... just the two of us in August. Logistically, how does one best get there? How long does one need there? Any suggestions as to hotels?

We are from Toronto, so does it make most sense to go there before Vancouver or after Whistler and then Tofino and then back home?

We are willing to fly between places if it saves time. Thoughts??

Here's my post from your AirBnB thread:

The car option: Logistically, by car, it takes about 6.5 hours to travel from Vancouver to Tofino. 1 hour to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry terminal. 1 hour to wait for the ferry with a reservation. Don't forget the reservation. 1.5 hour ride on the ferry to Departure Bay ferry terminal. 3 hour drive to Tofino.

From Whistler, it takes 1.5 hours to drive down to Horseshoe Bay Ferry terminal but you miss the drive out from Vancouver.

BC Ferries: https://www.bcferries.com/

Staying 3 nights is the usual recommendation although you could definitely stay more.

You can fly between Vancouver and Tofino with Harbour Air (seaplane) or Pacific Coastal Air (wheeled plane) from YVR.

There is a variety of accommodation types available in Tofino. Have a look through this webpage to narrow down some options. I would avoid the BC Long weekend on August 3, 4 and 5th. Other than that either before Whistler or after would be just fine. See when you can get a room rate you can live with because Tofino rates are expensive, Ucluelet not as high.

The road between Tofino and Ucluelet is about 40 km long but you will be spending time exploring the Long Beach Unit in the middle.
