Tofino in November

Hi… we are looking at booking a 3 night stay in Tofino in November. We have been in the summer but not the “storm season”. What should we expect during November? What are some of the highlights for this time of year to do or see? We are pretty active and not completely deterred by rain but also do not want to spend the whole time in a hotel room. Thank you!

Wind, rain highly likely. Short daylight for outdoors activities. Temperature in the 0-4 range in the morning, 6-14 in the afternoon. All doable if you have the correct clothes. Boardwalks will be slippery so good boots or trail shoes are needed.

Get accommodation that directly looks over the water so that you can observe the crashing waves if there is a storm.

The sunsets are better in Ucluelet with Black Rock Inn and around the corner there is a rental condo called the Ridge. https://flic.kr/s/aHsjRKLcE6

It is less then 30 min drive between Ukee and downtown Tofino.

We did a three day trip between Christmas and New Years in 2019 and I loved it. Travel day either end, so just two full days in the region. We had one pretty foul day, so we focused on the galleries in Tofino and ended up killing an interesting afternoon at Tofino brewing. The other days wasn't too bad and we did a really long walk (about 15 km) around a segment of the Wild Pacific Trail in Uclulet. Also a lovely day (but I was so tired when we were done.) Sadly the aquarium wasn't open in the winter, so that's one foul weather option you can't take advantage of in the winter.

The trees provide quite a lot of shelter, so doing the rainforest trails in the rain is better than trying to go to Cox Bay (which is what we did!).
