Internet and cell phone service in cabo

Has anyone found a good plan to use in Mexico for calling the US or a good internet plan that doesnt cost an arm and a leg and another leg.

Free Wifi is available in a lot of places in town. The Riu properties offer free internet for 90 minutes a day in the lobby, or Wifi in your room for 7 days for a cost of $70. US.

If you have Verizon, there is a very inexpensive international plan + Mexico that you can add for very little. Just cancel when you get home and it's pro-rated for the time you are there. It was less than $20 for me for ~ 2 weeks.

Or if you have a smart phone, download SKYPE in US and use at any Wifi spot.

AT&T has a "Mexico Plan". It costs $4.95 per month...it too is pro-rated. In March, they charged us $2.95 each (I forgot to call and cancel it the day we returned!) Calls are not free, but heavily discounted. Texts are like $0.10 each, but pictures cost $0.50.

As for internet, we've found that there are lots of "free" internet sites around town (you normally have to buy a drink, but we'd do that anyway.)

Our condo has free eithernet, but charges for wi-fi. We just bring a wi-fi router, and plug it in! (Our Apple Express is barely larger than a pack of smokes!) With that, we have wi-fi anywhere in our condo, even out on the balconies.

Skype works well (and free), if not, try your cell company. We have Verizon and changed to the Mexico plan for a week; $25 for twp phones...

Verizon nationwide plus Mexico. Calls to USA or others in Mexico use your minutes but no roaming. 1000 night and weekend and whatever anytime minutes you have No texting included but if u use iPhones u can iMessage over wifi for free. Almost every place has wifi so u can fbook or email too.

I also signed up for the AT&T plan at $4.95 for the month which is prorated. Incoming text messages are applied against your monthly text allowance but outgoing text messages would be billed at 50 cents each

Riu Palace wifi $70 for seven days? not 20 per day? is that a weekly rate? I would love to have internet while we are at the Riu (6 nights). 2 year old might need an Elmo fix every now and again!

Another Verizon user here and like others said their US plus Mexico plan works great! And, very reasonable to switch for the time in MX. Don't know much about other carriers though.
